National Anthem

Last week our Sunday School class, The Homebuilders, went to a baseball game here in Pensacola. Our teacher thought it would be neat to have a few of the guys in the class sing the National Anthem together for that particular game. He pulled some strings and made it possible and they did a great job. There were a couple season ticket holders for the hockey games there at the game and saw our teacher as he was putting some microphone stands in his car. He asked if he was one of the ones who just sang the Anthem and he said he was one out of the seven that sang. The other guy said that they sounded really good and he would like to recommend that they sing for a hockey game. Our teacher game him one of his business cards and said good-bye and didn't really think anything more of it. I guess the next day he got a call at work and it was the director of the hockey team here and she said that someone told her that they had a recommendation for singing the National Anthem. She said that if they wanted they could come to an audition that will be held in a few weeks. He announced this in our class yesterday. I was so excited! One of the reasons why I was excited was because Ron was one of the guys in the group. I don't think the guys really realized where this would go or how far, but I think it could be used as a witnessing tool if the Lord wills. We'll see just how far He will take this.

The National Anthem has a very special place in my heart anyway, not only because I'm married to a Marine and I understand a little more now what our freedom really costs, but mostly because I'm a red-blooded American who is proud to be from this nation that was founded by men who loved God and who wanted this nation to be run on Biblical principles. We've strayed some away from those principles, but that's all in the Lord's plan too. Truly I am proud to be an American.
