Ladies Retreat

The ladies in our church go to an annual Retreat up in Montgomery, GA and it's that time of year again. The year before last I was GREAT with child, and last year my little man was much too small for me to get away for something like that. This year I don't have much of an excuse so I'm going to go! I just wanted to let everyone know because I doubt I will get another chance to blog before I leave tomorrow. I'll let you all know how it went once I get back. I know I'm going to miss my boys, and I think they just might miss me too. Hope you all have a good weekend too!

Sick Baby

I'm so sorry it has been so long since I've posted anything. Aaron was sick all last week and into the beginning of this week. A week ago Sunday night he started getting a fever and we struggled with trying to keep that down until Wednesday afternoon I think. But on Tuesday he started getting some pretty bad diarrhea (sorry to be gross). But his poor little tooshie was so raw and sore. I had heard that putting baking soda in their bath is healing and so is cornstarch (thank you grandmas for those home remedies!). That explains the first picture. What amuses me the most about this picture is that he is one month away from two years old and I was still able to give him a bath in the sink! It goes a lot quicker and saves on water too! Then one day he was so tired that he fell asleep on the couch mid-morning, which is very unusual. I went back to check on him and he had wiggled his feet right off the couch! I couldn't pass up the photo opportunity! I'm just so very thankful that he is pretty much back to his normal self now! Praise the Lord!

Open Sesame!

Ron showed Aaron how to open doors about a month ago and he has become a pro since then. I was a bit frustrated at first when Ron taught him this new trick because there are some things that I would rather leave behind closed doors, but I guess not any more. I'm thankful Aaron is learning new things, but have to stay on my toes now so he doesn't get into something he shouldn't. In this video he's using a stool, but has become very proficient without it now. Also, sorry it is so dark. The lighting here was not the best!

Shower Angel!

Don't tell any doctors or nurses you know, but Aaron has been taking a shower with Dad since he was about a month old. He never did like the bath thing and it made it much more convenient for me becuase it allowed me a little bit of time to get ready. He's come to adore this blessed event and now if Ron even takes his shirt off he says something that sounds like, "shar". It's so cute! I just happened to be able to catch this picture after one of his "shars"!

Do you celebrate Valentine's Day?

Maybe I'm getting old, or maybe I'm just cheap, but celebrating Valentine's Day seems almost silly to me. Ron and I have discussed this many times and we've decided that we think Hallmark created this holiday just so they could make more money. I told him it was crazy to get me roses because for one thing they raise the price just for this particular holiday, plus they are dead a week later. Don't get me wrong, I love roses but sometimes think it's pointless because they last such a short time. And I definitely don't need any candy. It's hard enough to watch everything else I eat and having the temptation around is just too much! Ron says that it's not fair that every commercial on TV shows expensive, fancy necklaces and such for the girls, and $6 silly looking boxers that the guys won't ever wear anyway. I told Ron that it's nice to take a day and spoil the one you love and his reply was, why do you need just one day? Why don't you spoil the one you love every day? I think we're going to just go to our chruch's Valentine's Banquet and make it a point to enjoy each other a little bit more each day, not just one day a year! So, I'm taking a poll to see how many people celebrate Valentine's Day and how extravagant to you go on this holiday?

Our new baby!

We've been thinking about and wanting to get a new vehicle for a year or so now and so this past Saturday we went car shopping. We were looking for something completely different, but we believe the Lord put this one in front of us for a reason. It's newer than our old truck, it's got a TON more room than our old truck, it's got a DVD package for Aaron, and the best part (at least for me, the one who keeps track of most of the finances) is that the payment amount pretty much stays the same as what we were paying on our old truck! That was the clencher for me! We really like it and I think we're going to get a lot of good use out of it. Another good thing is that it has room for growth, when and if the Lord wills that to happen in the future!

More Home Improvements

We never really liked these jail-looking walls from the start so we decided it was about time we see what it would look like without them. The demolition went a lot smoother than we had expected and the final result is just amazing! It opens up the living room and changes the look of it completely! While my Dad was here he helped us put up some boards and some different moulding and we have yet to finish it completely, but we are so pleased with the results and wish we would have done this a year and a half ago! Also, Aaron has his little Elmo drill and wants to help with every little part of the process! So cute!

Grandpa and Grandma visit

Grandpa and Grandma Kris came to visit us. Aaron was so excited! He had so much fun with them and I think Grandpa and Grandma did too! They decided that they wanted to get Aaron's birthday present early, so they got him a tricycle/bicycle. They thought that he would need a helmet and pads to protect him. He wasn't quite able to work the tricycle, but he wanted to so badly. We just laughed at how cute he was trying to ride his new toy and how funny he looked in his protective gear!
