What a week it has become. It started out like any normal (if there is such a thing) week does, then on Monday night we decided to splurge and get ourselves a shed to store all of our yard equipment that is rusting from the rain and humidity - will post pictures of the shed at a later time. We were going to start putting it together on Tuesday afternoon, but a big storm came through and "rained on our parade". We were able to put some of the pieces together in the house. Wednesday Aaron woke up with the most horible sounding cough. I thought it would get better especially after a good, long nap that afternoon. Ron and a friend were able to get the walls up on the shed that afternoon, but it's been so hot that they decided to quit after a couple hours. When Aaron woke up from his nap he had developed a fever and the cough persisted. We decided to take him to the ER, but that meant missing church. I hate so much missing church, but especially on Wednesdays because Ron and I are in charge of the Cubbies in our Awana program. That's a whole other story in iself that I might get into more later. So, off to the hospital we go praying the whole way that it would go quickly and that it wouldn't be anything serious with Aaron. We got checked in after only a few minutes of waiting, but then waited for an hour and a half to get a chest X-ray for our little man. Aaron actually did pretty well waiting that long of a time too. We tried to keep him busy, but became increasingly difficult as time went by. After we finally got the X-ray done the doctor came and told us that he saw some streaking on one of the pictures. He said he can't gaurantee that it isn't pneumonia so he's going to treat it as such. We finally were able to get out of there and get some medicine for our sick little guy. The big problem is this holiday weekend. We have been planning for over a week now to go to Indiana to visit some friends we haven't seen in a couple years, but with a sick baby I'm not sure if that will happen now. I guess we'll see what happens. We're praying that this medicine will do what it needs to, but mostly that our Great Physician touches Aaron with His healing hands. Have a great holiday weekend everybody!!!

Back by popular demand
This is my most favorite recent picture. I really wish he would have been smiling, but just to take his picture and have him looking at you is a feat in itself. I blew this picture up to an 8x10 and am probably going to hang it in our bathroom.
Here Aaron is telling you how old his is - 1!!!

National Anthem
Last week our Sunday School class, The Homebuilders, went to a baseball game here in Pensacola. Our teacher thought it would be neat to have a few of the guys in the class sing the National Anthem together for that particular game. He pulled some strings and made it possible and they did a great job. There were a couple season ticket holders for the hockey games there at the game and saw our teacher as he was putting some microphone stands in his car. He asked if he was one of the ones who just sang the Anthem and he said he was one out of the seven that sang. The other guy said that they sounded really good and he would like to recommend that they sing for a hockey game. Our teacher game him one of his business cards and said good-bye and didn't really think anything more of it. I guess the next day he got a call at work and it was the director of the hockey team here and she said that someone told her that they had a recommendation for singing the National Anthem. She said that if they wanted they could come to an audition that will be held in a few weeks. He announced this in our class yesterday. I was so excited! One of the reasons why I was excited was because Ron was one of the guys in the group. I don't think the guys really realized where this would go or how far, but I think it could be used as a witnessing tool if the Lord wills. We'll see just how far He will take this.
The National Anthem has a very special place in my heart anyway, not only because I'm married to a Marine and I understand a little more now what our freedom really costs, but mostly because I'm a red-blooded American who is proud to be from this nation that was founded by men who loved God and who wanted this nation to be run on Biblical principles. We've strayed some away from those principles, but that's all in the Lord's plan too. Truly I am proud to be an American.

Here is a picture of our little family. It was taken last Christmas and Aaron has changed a lot since then. Just thought I should add a picture of all of us.

Here is a fairly recent picture of our little man. He is now 17 months old. Here he is trying his best to fill Dad's shoes, but as you can see he's got a little ways to go.

Well, I guess I have succumbed to the need to follow the crowd. Seems that everybody I know has a blog and I enjoy reading them so much that I decided to join-the-crowd and create my own. So blog world, ready or not, here I come!!!
